The Farmington Live Art Walk Returns to Main Street
Following a successful inaugural year, the Farmington Live Art Walk returns on Saturday, May 9, 2026, inviting the community back to Main Street for a vibrant, open-air celebration of art, creativity, and connection.
From 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, more than 40 artists across 40 locations will transform a one-mile stretch of Main Street from Route 4 to Meadow Road into a walkable outdoor gallery, where visitors can experience art in real time.
Building on the momentum of last year’s debut, the 2026 event expands both in size and scope, featuring a diverse range of artists working across mediums including painting, illustration, mixed media, and more. Set against the backdrop of Farmington’s historic homes and landscapes, the Live Art Walk offers a uniquely local and interactive arts experience.
“Last year showed us what’s possible when a community comes together around creativity,” said Chelsea O’Donnell, event organizer. “This year, we’re building on that energy with more artists, more destinations, and even more opportunities for people to connect with art in a meaningful, personal way.”
Unlike a traditional art show, the Live Art Walk places artists directly in front yards and shared spaces, encouraging visitors to engage with both the work and the process. The event is designed to be approachable and flexible, allowing guests to stroll the route at their own pace, stopping to observe, ask questions, and explore.
Rose Ponte, Farmington’s Economic Development Director, emphasized the broader impact of the event: “The Live Art Walk is a powerful example of how arts and culture can bring energy and vitality to our town. It draws people to Main Street, supports local creatives, and highlights Farmington as a place where community and creativity truly thrive.”
For participating artist Jocelyn Kennedy, who also serves as Chair of the Farmington Cultural District Committee and Executive Director of the Farmington Libraries, the event is about access and connection. “What makes the Live Art Walk so special is how approachable it is,” said Kennedy. “It invites people of all ages to engage with art in a relaxed, welcoming setting and to see creativity not just as something to observe, but something to be part of.”
The event is free and family-friendly, with additional highlights including:
Children’s programming hosted by Barney Library and The Village Nursery School
Live performances and interactive elements throughout the route, including Anne Cubberly’s Giant Puppets, Chorus Angelicus, and the Farmington High School Chamber Orchestra
Food trucks located at the Noah Wallace School bus circle
A shuttle running along Main Street for easy access across the full route
Attendees are also encouraged to bring a non-perishable food donation to support the Farmington Food Pantry.
Presented by the Farmington Cultural District, the Live Art Walk continues to grow as a signature community event, bringing together residents, artists, and visitors in celebration of Farmington’s creative spirit.
